Vinyl Stickers

I've checked a couple companies online, and the cost for fullcolor (spot colour not necessarily cheaper) window vinyl stickers starts from around 50 £ for one A3 and then about 15 per extra A3. Other options may be buying empty vinylstickers and screenprinting logos on them (extra work, but should come cheaper). Or there is the possibility to get sticker-type clear material printed in the print bureau here in Camberwell, with the material bought form the shop. That is however only available in A4. (have checked online, and no company seemed to supply a3 inkjet selfadhesive clear material.) Plus it has got a rather cheap plasticky look and feel to it.

Official Sponsorship letter - amend as necessary

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to seek financial sponsorship on behalf of a new illustration collective exhibiting together for the first time as part of London’s Free Range Festival, Europe’s largest graduate art and design show that attracts well over 100,000 visitors each year.

All the individuals exhibiting are graduating this year from Camberwell’s prestigious Illustration course that nurtured the outstanding talents of Sara Fanelli, Brett Ryder and Paul Cox. This new exhibition, set to present the future of creative illustration will take place on the 28th June - 2nd July in the highly conspicuous G3 Gallery on the shop floor of the Truman Brewery. To celebrate the exhibition we are producing a professional quality catalogue, designed by the creative director of the Less Common magazine (www.lesscommon.co.uk). The publication will serve as a reference book for contemporary illustrators who are not only up-and-coming, but also at the forefront of the industry for producing new and original imagery.

Among the many talented illustrators exhibiting in the show, some recent outstanding achievements were awarded to Jens Blank, Cat Roissetter and David Fulford who were short listed for the prestigious V&A Illustration award in the student category, out of over 300 applicants nationwide. Other achievements went to Nick Reyniers who became a member of the AOI for his witty caricatures, and David Fulford who exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery as part of the BP Portrait Award. More recently Anna Benner was invited to presented her research on the ’animated adaptations of Alice in wonderland’ at the Copenhagen Danima animation conference 2006. These are to name but a few of the notable successes from this vibrant and experimental collective of illustrators.

To see individual artist portfolios and more information about the exhibition, please visit:
http://www.free-range.org.uk/cgi-bin/exhibition.pl?yearID=12&exhibitorID=365&exhibitionID=412

We need to raise £4100 for the hire of the galley and a further £3000 for the printing of the exhibition catalogue, making £7100 in total. We are offering our sponsors a whole (b5) page in the catalogue to advertise their business. 2000 copies will be available for free at the show. As well as this, sponsors have the option to display their name on a vinyl sticker (no larger than standard A3) in the gallery window. This is a great opportunity to advertise to large numbers of people who will be visiting the exhibition, and the Free Range Festival as a whole.

I would be most grateful for your support, and look forward to hearing from you soon,

Many thanks,

Sponsership...

Hi Guys,

Sorry I'm not ever around, I seem to have some kind of phobia of leaving my desk at the minute, but I just thought I'd let you know I've just e-mailed the book publishers I worked for for my placement last year for money help, and I've asked my dad who's on the board of governers at a rather la-de-dar posh school (unfortunately my old school) to see if he can get me some contacts from rich mummys and daddys who want to 'invest' in our future somehow. The school is constantly getting money raised for all sorts and one time there was an auction held there and a plain old brick - 'belonging to the school's very foundations' (i kid you not, and no it doesn't make any sense) was sold for £300 for charity. Anyway I thought it was worth a shot as they all practically throw their money about. I'll let you know asap if we get any fruition from that.

Also, erm... I've not submitted any work for my catalogue page other than the line drawing, personal statement and my name, should that've been done already?

sponsors and myspace

Ok,
moneywise it doesn't look that dark now. We can cover the space with what we have, but nothing else. So we still need to raise money.
If you know anyone, ask them for sponsorship. Pages in the catalogue will be allocated accroding to financial ontribution.
Also, try and send our sponsorship letter (email David for a copy) to companies, and when you've done that, post them her.
So far Rosie has sent out letters to
HSBC BArclay's LLoyd's Abby Natwest Carphone warehouse, snappy snaps Tmobile orange BT 3 Vodafone Cass Art and Magma.
Jens has contacted Lufthansa, David the Guardian, me an obscure little company called HPYtv, Beci Habitat...
But none of that has produced any money yet, so get raising!

Fundraiser parties at the funky monkey and the crypt are looked into.

And we need drink sponsorship.

Finally, beci has created a mypace for the show, as well as a hotmail account. Illusdegreeshow@hotmail.com (i think)
And www.myspace.com/illustrationshow

That's the meeting today,

A huge thanks to everyone who put work into our show, especcially Rosie, David and Ali.

That's all folks!

meeting and sponsorship things

What a day!
I don't know about everyone else, but this meeting today was intense.
I've contacted someone I know (and just remembered again) for sponsoring, but their company is remarkably skint all the time, so i don't know.

However, while browsing I came upon this site, which lists lots of companies telephone nos, and is a sponsorship devoted site. http://www.hollis-sponsorship.com and then go to the a-z directory. I guess it'd be best if we split the companies among ourelves next week along with a little briefing about what to say from someone who doesn't think phones are scary.
I'm off to buy a lottery ticket now ;)
